The Amazon Rainforest has always had little forest fires but recently it had its worst forest fire. The Amazon Rainforest went up in flames on August 20th,2019. The fires have been damaging animal habitats as well as killing a lot of animals. The Amazon rainforest provides 20% of the world’s oxygen, and with the fire burning down a lot of the trees, we are getting rid of the oxygen we need to survive. We are already damaging the earth by cutting down trees and in some countries purposely starting fires to clear the fields. If these fires continue to happen we are looking at irreversible damages. International pressure may be the only way to stop the Brazilian government from taking a “suicide” path in the Amazon.
